Airports
Jerez Airport - This is a lovely little airport which is growing in popularity and size, there is a lovely feel about this airport. The airport, although smaller than its rivals, has a few cafes where you can relax before your flight and a couple of shops to walk around. It is in a great location to visit the Cadiz province of the Costa de la Luz as it is located just 5km north of Jerez de la Frontera which is just a 30 minute drive to the coast. This airport is served by several low cost airlines. Transport - There are plenty of car hire companies to choose from and you will find that most car hire companies offer Jerez de la Frontera as a pick up point. Taxis line up outside the front of the airport so you can travel to your destination via this method. There are a 2 bus routes that run from the aiport to Cadiz and El Puerto de Santa Maria. You can then get a bus on from Cadiz onto the beach destinations. Parking - If you wish to park your car here then it will cost you approximately 7 Euros per day, however there are lower charges for shorter stays.
Sevilla Airport - Situated just 10km north-east of Seville this airport is in a great location to visit the Costa de la Luz. The Airport is well served by flight companies and is easy to commute from due to its regular bus service which runs between the airport and the city and also to the train station. Transport - As with any big international airport there are plenty of taxis and car hire companies to choose from at the airport. It takes about 15 mins to get to the city centre from the airport via taxi and will cost around 15 - 25 Euros. Parking - €1.20 each hour; daily maximum up to 4 days, €12.00; daily maximum from the fifth day, €9.60.
Gibraltar Airport - Although Gibraltar Airport is not actually in Spain it is used by a lot of holiday makers to visit the area.Once you have landed in Gibraltar it is easiest to walk across the border to La Linea and then hire a car and drive on to your destination - this walker is shorter than it sounds. There are car hire firms and taxis based at the airport so you can, if you wish, cross the border via car. Since talks have taken place with the Spanish these are not such long queues to cross the border anymore.
Faro Airport - Faro Airport is situated in Portugal but is a great airport to fly into and visit the western area of the Costa de la Luz. Located about 60km from the Spanish border it is a smooth motorway drive from the Huelva province. This airport is used frequently by holiday-makers and home owners visiting the Huelva province. Transport - There are plenty of car hire companies available in the airport but make sure that when you book you make it clear that you are visiting Spain in the hire car for insurance purposes. You may also like to consider travelling from Faro to Huelva via train as there is a train station in Faro.
Malaga Airport - Malaga Airport is easily accessible via a fast toll road that links it to the Cadiz region. Even if you do drive along the older coastal road you will be surprised at how fast you can travel down to the Luz. Driving through bull fields, past the wind turbines and past Tarifa where you will see the kites-surfers from the road makes the journey part of your holiday experience. Transport - As you expect with any large airport there are plenty of car hire and taxis to choose from at this airport. Parking - Parking at Malaga costs €0.63 for first half hour or less, 1 Euro for second half hour & 1.64 Euro for all or part of each additional hour. It costa 7 Euros for a day.
